Food for J.

The holiday is coming to an end (and it looks like the good weather is too..). I prepare some of the sablé biscuits for J. and N.; tasty, although my piping isn’t up to D.’s standard or consistency.

Sablé biscuits

We enjoy our lunch of asparagus (with almost the last of E.’s parmesan) and strawberries (gariguette, naturally) in the sun whilst listening to what seems to be some sort of rodeo across the road. Or maybe there’s some rehearsal for a wedding.

Various tasks need to be accomplished in the afternoon: I need some milk and cheese for the residence, there is yoghurt to be made, cars to be shunted round in the garage and there is still some washing to finish. But we get to dinner.

The plating could have been improved with a little greenery (nixed as it was raining, or threatening so), but I think this would be a good meal with just 1.5 kidneys each and some rocket as an accompaniment. And it can´t have been so bad as J. is regretting the impending lack of a personal chef.

And for anyone wondering, no cheffing yesterday: we went for lunch at the Hotel Montmirail in Gigondas where the chef is our preferred truffle supplier in Richererenches.
